Properly cared for wooden decks and fences add to the value and appearance of a home. Timely cleaning and staining or sealing of exterior wood structures will keep them looking like new.

The restoration process begins with a thorough cleaning and or stripping as determined by the type of wood and its previous finish history. Even high quality stains and sealers will be unable to live up to their expected performance if they are applied over a poorly prepared surface.

Our cleaners, strippers and brighteners are chlorine free and environmentally friendly. Our specially formulated products, when properly applied, will not harm the wood itself or the surrounding structures and vegetation.
After the appropriate cleaners have been applied, the wood surfaces are then "scrubbed" clean with a power washer set to the proper pressure for your type of wood. Inexperience and improper use of power washing equipment can cause many problems. These problems can be as simple as ineffective cleaning or as damaging as splintering and shredding of the wood surface.

Why Does My Wood Need to be Cleaned?

The environment and normal everyday usage will cause untreated wood to become dirty, gray and weathered.

Some damage that may occur:

  • Rain

When unprotected wood absorbs water; mildew, fungus and mold are provided with optimal growing conditions. The growth of these organisms causes the wood to discolor, deteriorate and eventually rot.

  • Pollution

Pollution and acid rain can cause the wood to become dull and dirty.

  • Everyday Usage

Children, pets, barbecue grills, and even just walking on your deck, can cause unsightly dirt and grime to become a problem.  Ground in dirt wears away at the wood surface.

  • Improper Ventilation

Standing water becomes a problem when crevices between boards become filled with debris. Unless this debris is removed, these areas remain continually moist and the surrounding wood begins to decompose.

The specialized cleaning process of Deck Maintenance Corp will leave your deck, fence, log home or wood siding thoroughly clean. All dirt, grime, mildew and algae will be removed and the wood surfaces will be ready for maximum penetration of your chosen stain or sealer.
